Henan Museum, Zhengzhou
Situated in the heartland of Chinese civilization, Henan Museum showcases the region's rich history through an extensive collection of artifacts. The museum's holdings, particularly the exquisite Shang and Zhou bronzeware like the Duling square ding (square ding with rivet and beast face patterns) and the Bronze owl-shaped zun with the inscription of Fuhao, offer invaluable insights into the cultural evolution of the Central Plains. It uniquely showcases the essence of China’s Central Plains and Yellow River cultures.
The museum boasts a collection of artifacts discovered across the province, including a particularly good collection of Shang Dynasty (16th century BC-11th century BC) relics. The museum also houses Buddhist statues, jade carvings and ceramics.
The museum's "Huaxia Ancient Music Hall" allows visitors to immerse themselves in the sounds of the Yellow River culture through performances on ancient instruments. Through special exhibitions like "Henan during the Ming and Qing Dynasties" and "Ancient Stone Carvings of the Central Plains”, the museum provides a comprehensive exploration of Henan's rich history and cultural heritage.
