Xixian promotes integrated development of Xi'an, Xianyang

Xixian New Area has made significant progress in promoting the integration process into Xi'an and Xianyang through joint planning and interconnectivity of major infrastructure facilities, according to a news conference held on Oct 10.

The area plans to introduce a total of 14 metro lines with a combined length of 245.5 kilometers.

So far, four metro lines have begun operating within Xixian, including lines 1, 5, 14, and phase 1 of Line 16, with a total operating length of 66 km.

Xixian also plans to build 43 interconnecting roads with Xi'an and Xianyang, totaling 466 km. This year, the focus has been on the construction of 20 roads, with a total investment of 21.9 billion yuan ($3 billion) and a length of 123 km.

Since the launch of the general window of the Qinchuangyuan innovation-driven platform, Xixian has seen significant growth in the numbers of high-tech enterprises and technology-oriented small and medium-sized enterprises, and volume of technology contracts, increasing by factors of 16.1, 4.2, and 2.1, respectively.

In addition, since 2017, 143 new schools have been built or expanded in the area, providing an additional 134,000 study positions.

The construction of nine tertiary hospitals in Xixian has been initiated as well. The Xixian New Area Central Hospital, Xixian Hospital of the Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital, and Fengdong Hospital of XD Group hospital have already begun operating.

Furthermore, Xixian and Xianyang have achieved the cross-zone handling of 290 high-frequency government service matters, including business registration, taxation, social security, housing provident funds, pensions, and investment.
