The China Overseas Investment Fair (COIFAIR) was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), and was co-founded by the China Industry Overseas Development and Planning Association and China Development Bank in 2009. It has successfully held 11 sessions so far.

As the premier event in the field of China outbound investment, COIFAIR organizes expos, investment seminars, project presentations and promotions, as well as high-level meetings to gather enterprises, financial institutions, service providers, government departments, international organizations, business associations, research institutions, and other entities. It brings together different countries, capital, projects, information, experts, services, and other key elements, offering copious investment opportunities and cooperation prospects. It is the foremost platform for Chinese enterprises to go abroad, a portal for foreign entities to attract Chinese investment, as well as a professional platform for all participants to develop international bilateral and multilateral investment cooperation.

Each year, COIFAIR attracts participants from over 110 countries and regions. More than 1,000 major state-owned enterprises and well-known privately held companies from China use the COIFAIR platform to network with foreign investment agencies. In the past, both Chinese and influential foreign mainstream media outlets have provided extensive coverage of the event.

Guided by the national strategy of “Going Global,” the 11th COIFAIR was held at the China National Convention Center from Nov 28 to 29, 2019. It had the theme of "Collaborating on High-Quality Construction for Prosperous Belt and Road Development," focusing closely on the matchmaking meetings between enterprises and projects, propelling the development of the Belt and Road Initiative, facilitating China’s major industries to expand extensive cooperation with foreign businesses, as well as realizing mutually beneficial results.

COIFAIR offered an effective platform for communication and collaboration over the two days. During the fair, representatives from key countries and regions along the Belt and Road introduced their investment climates, policies, and projects to realize connectivity with potential partners and seek common development. In addition, Chinese companies in the fields of infrastructure, manufacturing, agriculture, e-commerce, logistics, tourism, building materials, railways, automobiles, chemicals, machinery, high technology, aviation, telecommunications, energy, real estate, and textiles carried out exhibitions and ‘match-making’ meetings. More than 20 provinces and cities across China showcased their regional competitive industries and investment intentions to accelerate their international cooperation capacity.

The 12th COIFAIR will be held from Sept 28-29, 2020 at the China National Convention Center (Beijing).
