CNR CRC to set Chinese criteria for railway vehicle equipment manufacturing

The "Jilin through the eyes of Overseas Chinese Media" interview group visited the CNR Changchun Railway Vehicles Co, Ltd, on May 25 in Changchun, Jilin province.

CNR Changchun Railway Vehicles Co Ltd (hereinafter referred to as CNR CRC)was founded in 1954 as the pioneering cradle of China's high-speed EMU and metro vehicles. The CNR has since developed many railway products and more than 60 types of urban railway vehicles, such as the Chinese standard High-speed EMU train, the CRH380BG Alpine EMU, the CJ-1 Intercity EMU, the Hybrid-engine EMU, China's first stainless metro car, the aluminum alloy car, the monorail train, the driver-less metro car and the low-floor light rail vehicle.

As China's pioneer rail transit equipment company accessing overseas markets, the CNR CRC has exported more than 7,000 vehicles, with receipts of $8 billion to America, Brazil, Australia and Hong Kong since the exportation of the Iran-Tehran metro in 1995.

"The implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative supports the internalization of the railway industry," Liu Gang, vice president of the CNR CRC’s overseas business department said, "The products step into several countries and regions along the Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road."

Zhu Yan, head of the R&D department said that the CNR CRC will develop a "Chinese Standard" EMU, with speeds up to 160 km, 200 km and 250 km. "It will become the first China-made product for the CNR CRC, and a competitive product for the Belt and Road Initiative," he added.
