The Xianyang Museum, opened to the public in 1962, is a national first-class museum, one of China's key cultural heritage units, and a national AAA-grade tourist attraction.
The museum, which has a collection of over 160,000 cultural relics, oversees the Xianyang Confucian Temple Museum and the Xianyang Ancient Ferry Site Museum.
The Xianyang Confucian Temple Museum contains eight exhibition halls, showcasing important artifacts from the Qin and Han periods (221 BC—AD 220) to the Sui and Tang periods (581-907). Over 5,000 items are on display, highlighting the region's unique heritage.
The Xianyang Ancient Ferry Site Museum was established on the historical ferry site from the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911) and opened to the public in 2017. It is a provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit in Shaanxi and a national AAA-level tourist site. With over 3,000 years of history, the ancient ferry has always been a crucial transportation hub linking China's western and southern regions. It was the first crossing point of the ancient Silk Road leading out of Chang'an.
