Conference indicates new prospects for digital music industry

The highly anticipated 2024 Digital Music Industry Conference opened at the Xiamen's Huli district, East China's Fujian province, on Sept 12.

The event brought together numerous influential figures from the government, academia, law, and the music industry, who delved into topics such as digital music dissemination. The conference included three sub-forums focusing on digital music distribution and influence, how to use artificial intelligence to empower innovation and development in the digital music industry, and the healthy competition and sustainable development of digital music copyright market, respectively.

The forums featured engaging keynote speeches, in-depth roundtable discussions, and the release of significant documents such as the Report on the Communication and Influence of China's Digital Music (2023), all intended to guide the future development of the digital music industry.

Zhang Fan, founder of the Midi Music Festival, highlighted the potential for future music festivals to offer immersive experiences at home with fast-growing virtual reality technology. Given the festival's appeal to Taiwan music fans, Xiamen could host a cross-Strait music festival with its unique advantages.

The conference also facilitated music project collaborations through a digital music industry cooperation exchange.

A significant moment was the establishment of the China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association's digital music industry research expert committee in Huli district, with Huli a signed five-year cooperation agreement with the conference, injecting new cultural energy into the area. Moving forward, Huli district will continue to drive the high-quality development of China's digital music industry.
