The Xiangyu Comprehensive Bonded Zone, recognized as a zero-carbon model, recently showcased its green and low-carbon development strategies to a state media delegation. This visit aiming at exploring the innovative practices of the Xiamen Free Trade Zone took place on Aug 13.

Presently, all forklifts operating within the Xiangyu Comprehensive Bonded Zone are fully electrified of its. An electric forklift can replace 6.2 metric tons of diesel annually, saving 13 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 19.5 tons.

Furthermore, green and low-carbon practices are prevalent throughout the zone. For example, they utilize new energy logistics equipment such as electric logistics transport vehicles, energy-efficient LED lighting within all areas of the zone, as well as energy-saving industrial fans and air conditioning units.

The Xiangyu Comprehensive Bonded Zone also enforces strict green park management policies. Vehicles with excessive exhaust emissions or those that do not meet environmental credit standards are prohibited from entering the zone. To transform the zone into a truly zero-carbon zone, all employees are required to adopt green commuting practices.

Solar photovoltaic panels have been installed on the roofs of warehouses to provide clean and green energy for the zone. The annual electricity generation from these panels is expected to exceed 8.99 million kilowatt-hours, saving 2,832 tons of standard coal.

Additionally, a 2.5-megawatt-hour energy storage station has been built, achieving self-sufficiency in green electricity supply within the zone. The surplus electricity can be sold to the grid, resulting in an estimated annual revenue increase of 4 million yuan ($55,7396).
