Since the start of this year, Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has been fully focused on its top priority of high-quality development, coordinating efforts to promote the construction of major projects throughout the city.

A number of major projects have been completed and started operating. The construction of a 12 gigawatt monocrystalline silicon plant by Huayao Optoelectronic Technology Co – costing a total of 4 billion yuan ($549 million) – is proceeding and when finished it will have a floor space of 170,000 square meters.

It's completed its second phase and is expected to generate an estimated annual tax revenue of around 500 million yuan and provide employment for 2,000 people.

A number of major projects are accelerating their construction. The new Xinhua 10,000-metric-ton electronic-grade polysilicon plant, with a total investment of 2.8 billion yuan, is set to boast an annual production capacity of 10,000 tons of high-purity polysilicon for electronics use.

The overall construction progress of the main plant area has now reached 88.4 percent.

Overall, all 309 renovation projects for rundown neighborhoods planned for implementation in Hohhot by 2023 have now begun, with a total completion rate of 83 percent. Of these, 112 neighborhoods have been completed and the remaining 197 neighborhoods are scheduled to be fully completed by the end of September.
