The "Grassland Talents" Innovation Achievement Exhibition was held in Baotou on Aug 23. The exhibits cover the realms of artificial intelligence and equipment manufacturing, as well as the rare earth, silicon, and agricultural industries, among other fields.

The event brought together the latest achievements of sci-tech innovation in various cities in Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

A total of 158 enterprises from the region participated. Among them were two State-level key laboratories, 10 academician workstations, and 76 key sci-tech enterprises in Baotou.

A tiny robotic dog that can wave and roll over attracted large crowds while another robotic dog showcased even more complicated maneuvers.

"The smaller (dog) is for family life and can interact with people. Its two eyes are both cameras that can act as monitors for the elderly and children in the family," said Liu Jing, the business manager of Inner Mongolia Robot Co (BKJD Robot).

"The bigger robot dog is mainly used in industrial scenarios for intelligent patrol and unattended operations, to ensure the safe operation of factories."

A rhinitis gel with anti-virus additives using rare earth materials also proved to be of particular interest at the exhibition site.

"The antibacterial effect of rare earth composite antibacterial materials is excellent, as these can effectively inhibit Staphylococcus aureus and E. coli by more than 99 percent. They can also greatly alleviate the symptoms of rhinitis among patients," said Liang Lei, a chief engineer of Baotou Zhongke Ceramic Technology Co.
