Xi'an advances high-quality development through technological innovation

Since the beginning of this year, Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, has made efforts to promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, foster enterprises' growth, and enhance regional collaboration.

During the year's first half, the Qinchuangyuan innovation-driven platform added 198 new enterprises to its roster who had transformed scientific and technological achievements.

During this period, 837 technology managers and 52 science and technology brokers were trained, bringing the total number to 2,223.

Sixty-six collaborative innovation activities involving industry, academia, and research were organized, and 341 projects for the on-site transformation of scientific and technological achievements were promoted.

Also, the city's transaction volume of technology contracts reached 131.43 billion yuan ($18.25 billion) in the first half, a year-on-year increase of over 50 percent.

Efforts have also been made to improve services for foreign talents. An interactive platform for foreign experts was established. A total of 673 foreign individuals had their work permit notifications, work permits, changes, and extensions processed.

The city has also cultivated and developed innovative and entrepreneurial enterprises. Over the first six months of this year, eight science and technology enterprise incubators were approved as national-level incubators, bringing the total number of national-level incubators in the city to 34, a year-on-year increase of 31 percent, ranking fifth among sub-provincial cities.

In addition, Xi'an has deepened the integration of science, technology, and finance. The Shenzhen Stock Exchange approved the Xi'an Technology Intellectual Property Asset Support Special Plan with a financing scale of 827 million yuan.
