Shanxi promotes reputation at Summer Davos Forum

To make full use of the Summer Davos Forum in terms of enhancing Shanxi province's influence and reputation, Shanxi Provincial Government held an event dubbed "Shanxi Night" of the 2023 Summer Davos Forum in Tianjin on June 26.

The event, which marked the province's debut at a world economic forum, featured a "cold banquet + exhibition display + live performances" format that showcased Shanxi's history, culture, tourism, cuisine and folk customs. 

"The food in Shanxi is very delicious. The intangible cultural heritage impressed me. The love and pride of Shanxi people for their hometown touched me. I will go to Shanxi if there is a chance," said one photographer from Hungary.

In addition to the special cuisine, cultural and art exhibitions, many guests were attracted by Shanxi's characteristic industries, including the special steel materials, new energy vehicles, high-end equipment manufacturing, and semiconductor sectors. 

"This time, Shanxi is facing entrepreneurs around the world, and the province boasts great economic development potential, making it a good place for investment," said Tian Yuan, the founder and chairman of Yabuli China Entrepreneurs Forum. 

More entrepreneurs have paid attention to the economic development of the province recently.

Peter Brown, PricewaterhouseCoopers' global leader for people and organization, said Shanxi is a dynamic province and a hot region for investing in business and entrepreneurship. PwC looks forward to using its resources and professional capabilities to support the development of Shanxi, he noted. 

In recent years, Shanxi has taken the lead in transforming its traditional advantageous industries such as coal, electricity, steel, and coke, while also boosting its strategic emerging industries. 

It has been committed to developing into an advanced manufacturing hub in Central China and has many advantages in terms of facilitating industrial transfers from eastern coastal areas, such as ample power, cheap electricity, and continuous optimization of the local business environment.

The 2023 Summer Davos Forum is taking place in Tianjin from June 27 to 29. The theme of this year's forum is "Entrepreneurship: the driving force of the global economy". More than 1,500 global leaders and innovators from over 90 countries and regions are attending.
