Themed "Cybersecurity for People and by the People", the 2022 China Cybersecurity Week will kick off on Monday, the country's top internet watchdog announced on Wednesday.

The event, which will run until Sept 11, was jointly organized by some 10 government agencies, including the Cyberspace Administration of China, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

This year's opening ceremony and main summit will be held in Hefei, capital of Anhui province, on Monday, along with eight sub-forums during the week, according to a statement from the CAC.

Considering that data security for automobiles is a hot topic among public, automotive enterprises will discuss with visitors for the first time during the event their efforts to protect data and help promote security awareness, Gao Lin, deputy head of CAC's cybersecurity coordination bureau, told a news conference on Wednesday.

He said that cyberspace-related enterprises, cybersecurity schools affiliated with universities and security experts will also participate in this year's event to educate security talent and share cybersecurity knowledge via video link with more netizens.

Additionally, a cybersecurity competition will be launched during the week, with a number of activities held to improve people's ability to prevent security risks and protect their personal information online, he added.
