Completed in 2012, the Guizhou Ethnic Museum is a provincial museum focusing on preserving, inheriting and promoting traditional local ethnic cultures. It was inscribed as a national first-level museum in 2020. Located on a bank of the Nanming River, the museum covers an area of more than 13,000 square meters and is greatly inspired by regional and ethnic features in design.

The 16,000 collected items of the museum are mainly made up of traditional costumes, accessories, daily necessities, means of production and ancient rare books of the 18 minority groups dwelling in Guizhou, including Miao, Bouyei, Dong, Tujia, Yi, Gelao and Sui. With related video and audio resources, they constitute two permanent exhibitions depicting a panorama of the colorful culture and history of the local minority groups. Meanwhile, the museum has also hosted a dozen themed displays and mounted temporary exhibitions of other museums for years, making great contributions to the development of the local cultural industry.
