Flower shows, gardening contests and performances were held in Shanghai's Chongming Island on Wednesday to celebrate Hua Zhao Jie, a traditional Chinese flower festival, and to warm up for the upcoming 10th China Flower Expo.
A total of 39 herbaceous borders created by Chinese and foreign horticulture studios competed in the first China International Herbaceous Borders Contest staged inside the southern sector of the flower expo — Dongping National Forest Park.
The organizer said the result of the competition will be announced during the flower expo, which will run from May 21 to July 2.
