The China International Import Expo will continue to host the smart transportation zone within its automobile exhibition at this year's trade fair, the organizer said during a meeting on March 2.
More than 10 automobile companies have signed up for the exhibition, according to Ma Fengmin, finance director of the CIIE Bureau.
A forum themed "The Fourth Industrial Revolution and Smart Transportation" will be held during the expo by the Investment and Technology Promotion Offices of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization.
Wu Yabin, director of ITPO Beijing, said that advanced digital production has brought huge opportunities for the upgrading of the automobile industry, and that ITPOs UNIDO will continue to work with the CIIE Bureau to expand the influence of the forum.
During the meeting, officials from the municipal government's transportation commission and economic and informatization commission introduced the development of smart transportation in Shanghai and its related industries.
Representatives from automobile companies including Volvo, Michelin, BMW, Toyota, Volkswagen and General Motors attended the meeting and discussed matters related to strengthening the capacity of the CIIE automobile special committee and promoting the smart transportation zone.
