Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition park in the city's Yanqing district has received 400,000 visitors since it reopened to the public in March this year, according to a senior park official.

Zhang Lannian, chairman and general manager of Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition Investment Development Co, said that since the exhibition ended in October, the venue has made a smooth transition to a public park.

He said the company will protect the expo park and turn it into a world-class destination for tourists.

The park organized more than 160 events this year, becoming one of the most popular destinations in Beijing.

It hosted the first Beijing International Garden Festival from April to October, restoring the iconic floral landscape spread over nearly 50,000 square meters and more than 70 domestic and foreign exhibition gardens to recreate the landscape of the exhibition for visitors.

The expo, the world's largest of its kind, opened to the public in April last year.
