China International Green & Smart Community Infrastructure Expo 2020 and City Union Partners Conference will be held from Nov 5 to 7, as part of the country's ongoing efforts to speed up the new urbanization drive.

The expo hopes to help seek new development opportunities, build a new pattern of community governance and further boost the development of smart cities, Li Liping, president of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Construction Industry Branch, said at a news conference held in Beijing on Thursday.

The expo will be co-hosted by the national digital standardization technical committee for intelligent buildings and residential areas, China Association of Communication Enterprises, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Construction Industry Branch and China Chamber of International Commerce construction industry chamber.

Ma Hong, a member of the national digital standardization technical committee for intelligent buildings and residential areas, said China is entering a new stage of a connected world.

"We will further promote the deep integration of the next-generation information technologies with housing and urban-rural development as well as foster the high-quality development of the new-type smart cities," Ma said.

Covering a total exhibition area of more than 20,000 square meters, the expo is set to attract over 50,000 visitors. More than 300 enterprises will display the latest products, technologies and achievements, such as smart homes, smart parking and charging and smart community, during the expo.

Nine parallel forums are planned during the event, covering topics related to fields such as green and smart community, renovation of old urban residential communities, smart homes and smart buildings.

After years of development, China is accelerating the push for developing a new type of urbanization. According to this year's Government Work Report, the country will begin the renovation of 39,000 old urban residential communities and support the upgrading of plumbing and wiring and the installation of elevators in old residential buildings.
