Some 29 business contracts were signed during the 19th Changchun International Agriculture & Food Expo -- held in Changchun, capital of northeastern Jilin province -- worth 4.46 billion yuan ($664.9 million), according to provisional estimates published on Aug 23 on local media website.
The expo, which ran from Aug 14 to 23, attracted 960,000 visitors to the offline expo and 43.1 million people to click and view the expo online. In addition to the contracts signed during the event, the expo's on-site transaction volumes reached 455 million yuan, according to officials.
They said that although it was affected by the novel coronavirus pandemic, over 1,800 leading and high-quality agricultural companies from both inside and outside the province participated.
Also on show and sold during the event, were more than 10,000 kinds of domestic and international agricultural products and foods, over 1,000 types of agricultural machinery products and nearly 1,000 sorts of new rural energy and environmental protection equipment from more than 220 large-scale manufacturers.
During the expo, in addition to five large promotional activities, the organizers also installed eight online cloud livestreaming rooms to make full use of the up-to-date technology to promote the online trading of agricultural products. According to preliminary statistics, the volume of trading done on through the livestreaming events during the expo reached 1.69 million yuan.
In addition, the expo established a one-stop online trading services platform. Even after the expo, local agricultural products and foods will be displayed and sold on the services platform for the rest of the year.
