On March 4 -- as the last batch of new recruits arrived in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province -- Xi'an BYD Automobile Co had made up its shortfall in employment, according to the company.

A key car manufacturer in China, BYD Auto is also the world's biggest car battery supplier, China's largest mobile phone foundry manufacturer and China's largest new energy vehicle manufacturer.

BYD Auto has a number of operations – including those involved in automobile manufacturing, smart terminal manufacturing, rail transit and auto finance -- located in the Xi'an High-tech Industries Development Zone, also known as the XHTZ.

Since the novel coronavirus outbreak, the XHTZ has set up a special recruitment work group to actively go to places in and out of North China’s Shaanxi province to recruit employees for Xi’an BYD Automobile Co .

Together with human resources agencies, the zone also promoted online recruitment and remote interviews, providing more opportunities for job seekers.

Officials said that with XHTZ's efforts, Xi'an BYD Automobile Co ushered in a large-scale workforce in the space of several days, with a maximum of 1,000 workers returning per day.

Currently, the major production lines are all operating at full capacity and production capacity has returned to normal levels, according to staff members at Xi'an BYD Automobile Co.
