Xi'an's GDP up 7% in 2019

Last year, Xi'an's annual gross domestic product (GDP) hit 932.12 billion yuan ($134.42 billion), for a year-on-year increase of 7 percent, according to a report released by the Xi'an bureau of statistics on March 23.

The added value of the primary industry in 2019 came in at 27.91 billion yuan, an increase of 4.3 percent and the added value of the secondary and tertiary sectors reached 316.74 billion yuan and 587.46 billion yuan, respectively.

Throughout the year, the added value of the private economy generated 506.62 billion yuan, accounting for 54.4 percent of the city's GDP, an increase of 1 percentage point from the previous year.

The total industrial added value for the year was 186.89 billion yuan, an increase of 6.6 percent over the previous year. Last year, the city’s foreign direct investment was $7.06 billion, for a year-on-year increase of 11.1 percent.

The per capita disposable income of the city's residents was 34,064 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.5 percent, of which the per capita disposable income of urban residents was 41,850 yuan, up 8.1 percent, and the per capita disposable income of rural residents was 14,588 yuan, up 9.8 percent.

The city played host to 301 million tourists from China and abroad in 2019, a year-on-year increase of 21.7 percent. The total revenue generated by the tourism industry was 314.61 billion yuan, an increase of 23.1 percent.

In addition, the city's permanent population at the end of 2019 amounted to 10.2 million, a net increase of 198,800 people compared with the end of the previous year.
