Xitang Ancient Town, Zhejiang province

Xitang Ancient Town, lying in Jiashan county in Jiaxing city, Zhejiang province, is a renowned ancient town in southeastern China.
In Xitang Ancient Town, there are well-preserved groups of buildings of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) with high artistic quality and research value. The town is famous for its many covered corridors, lanes and bridges.
Xitang Ancient Town looks like a masterpiece of traditional Chinese painting, but it is an affordable masterpiece.
Residents still live in the old-style houses, and many of the homes boast rare woodcarvings. The whole town is very well preserved.
Night tours in Xitang are attracting visitors who are able to enjoy the town from the comfort of boats decorated with red lanterns.
