Hefei calls for cooperation to advance manufacturing

The Second World Manufacturing Convention – with its theme "Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Creativity: Embracing the New Era of Manufacturing" -- was held in Hefei, in East China's Anhui province, on Sept 20-23.

Organizers of the convention launched the Hefei Initiative, calling for cooperation between China, a global manufacturing powerhouse, and the rest of the world to accelerate the industrial upgrading for smart manufacturing.

Covering over 60,000 square meters, the convention featured 10 exhibition areas -- such as intelligent manufacturing, the digital economy and outdoor driverless vehicles -- each showcasing the combination of advanced technologies with the manufacturing sector.

This year, more than 1,200 guests -- from home and abroad, including senior managers of Global Fortune 500 companies -- attended the convention, according to the Anhui Provincial Bureau of Commerce.

A total of 96 companies from the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone presented their latest products related to artificial intelligence, integrated circuits and quantum communications.
