Qinghai Province Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease Specialist Hospital, first established in 1978, gained its current name in 2008.

The hospital covers 2 hectares and has a building area of 74,130 square meters. It has 883 staff members, including one academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, two experts enjoying special allowances from the State Council, 100 holding senior titles and 146 having middle titles.

It has 650 patient beds and 39 departments. The department of plateau diseases is a national key specialty, and the departments of cardiothoracic surgery, anesthesia surgery, coronary heart disease, vascular surgery and treatment of cardiovascular critical diseases are provincial key specialties. Two departments, hypertension and cardiac intervention, are provincial distinctive specialties.

The hospital also functions as Qinghai Plateau Medical Science Research Associate, the only one of its kind in China specializing in plateau medical science research.

The hospital is a pioneer in Qinghai province in carrying out advanced medical operations such as radiofrequency ablation, pacemaker installation and hybrid coronary stent implantation.
