Urumqi Foreign Languages School

Urumqi Foreign Languages School, established on the basis of No 12 Middle School in 1996, is the only State-run foreign language school in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

It is a full-time school with characteristics of foreign languages, including middle school and high school education. The school has international Chinese courses, as well as classes in Russian, German and other languages.

The school covers 69,753 square meters with first-class modern comprehensive teaching buildings, libraries, audio-visual education rooms, computer rooms, multifunction halls, an indoor sportsground, a track and field stadium, student apartments, and dining halls. The school has staff of qualified faculty members, 31 of whom have senior titles, and seven have master’s degrees.

The school has been actively promoting foreign exchanges with other countries, and has established friendly relationships with language schools in the United Kingdom and the United States. It has also sent teachers and students overseas for language learning annually since 1999.
