7. Silk Road International Exposition

The exposition has been held annually in Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province, since 2016. Themed "New Era, New Pattern, and New Development," the exposition was sponsored by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce, the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and the Shaanxi provincial government.

Serving as a platform for countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to promote trade, culture and people-to-people exchanges, the annual event aims to promote high-quality economic development and improve the city's overall competitiveness.

8. Global Programmers' Festival

The Global Programmers' Festival, which was initiated in 2017, is held in Xi’an, Shaanxi province in Northwest China, every October or November. The festival aims to encourage all walks of life around the world to focus on programmers and strengthen communication between them.

Xi'an is accelerating the pace of digital software development to build a "China Software City". The festival has given full play to Xi'an's advantages in the software industry, building a multi-level communication platform for global software IT talents and promoting exchanges and cooperation between Xi'an and the countries involved in the BRI, aiming to help Xi'an to build a global "software city" and a "Silk Road Silicon Valley".

9. Xi'an City Wall International Marathon

The Xi'an City Wall International Marathon is the only event of its kind in the world that sets the race track on an ancient city wall. The event has been held every April since 1993, and this year's event started April 20 and was sponsored by the Chinese Athletic Association, the Shaanxi provincial sports bureau and the Xi'an municipal government. More than 5,000 runners from 28 countries and regions took part.

Positioned as a name card of Xi'an, the event was selected on the list of the Belt and Road Shaanxi 2019 Sports Boutique Events. It offers participants a platform that showcases the rich historic culture of Xi'an, one of the great ancient capitals, standing alongside Rome, Athens and Cairo in size and significance.

10. China Xi'an Silk Road International Tourism Expo

Launched in 2014, the China Xi'an Silk Road International Tourism Expo (CXSRITE) is held in Shaanxi's Xi'an every year. Running under the theme of the BRI, the large international exhibition aims to construct a platform for people from the tourism industry and the public to cooperate and communicate.

With support from countries along the Silk Road, CXSRITE has been held successfully for six years. With an expanding scale, the expo has become an important platform in promoting the tourism industry, as well as accelerating the integration of culture and tourism, bringing in vitality and strong development.

In the future, the expo will serve as a platform for business insiders to communicate and seek cooperation opportunities to speed up the regional integration of countries and regions along the Belt and Road.
