Founded in 1959, Jiading Museum is a comprehensive museum that integrates collection, preservation, research, exhibitions, and education. With three locations, it showcases the history and cultural heritage of the old city of Jiading.
The new Jiading Museum has a total floor area of approximately 9,608 square meters. Its elegant design perfectly incorporates Jiading's unique geographical elements, blending the beauty of classical Jiangnan gardens with modern architecture, making it a prominent landmark in the old city center.
At present, the Shanghai Museum of Chinese Imperial Examinations is located inside Jiading Confucius Temple. The Fahua Pagoda's courtyard houses exhibitions on the life of prominent local figures including Gu Weijun (1888-1985), a prominent Chinese diplomat, and Hu Juewen (1895-1989), a renowned scholar. The Jiading Bamboo Carving Museum is located inside Jiading Villa.
