Guangdong, HK, Macao strengthen cooperation in food safety

Cooperation in food and edible agricultural products safety will be strengthened in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The traceability system for food origin between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong and Macao will be improved and food safety supervision in the Greater Bay Area will be smarter.

Food safety in the area will be enhanced by establishing linkage mechanisms in investigating food safety cases and responding to emergencies. In addition, an exchange platform and information release system for food safety risks will also be established.

Hong Kong and Macau are encouraged to participate in the construction of national-level quality and safety demonstration zones for exported food and agricultural products and "accredited farms" in Guangdong. Great attention will be paid to building a Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao green agro-products production base in Huizhou and a green agricultural and sideline products distribution base in Huaiji county, Zhaoqing.
