Huaiji county in Zhaoqing will be built into a green agricultural and sideline products distribution base for the Greater Bay Area. 

A meeting to discuss the cooperative development of agricultural products and food in the Greater Bay Area was held in Zhaoqing, Nov 24, 2018. Qian Yankao, vice-mayor of Zhaoqing, delivered a speech at the meeting.

According to Qian, Huaiji, as the biggest county in the Greater Bay Area, has competitive advantages in location and manpower, as well as an excellent ecological environment. These advantages led to the construction of the distribution base.

He also said that the government will speed up industrial development in Huaiji with a focus on food processing as well as machine manufacturing and biological medicine. In addition, a Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao agricultural and sideline products trading center, a national food industry research and development center, and an international-standard food inspection and quarantine center were planned to be established in Huaiji, making it a transfer hub for green and organic agricultural products to the Greater Bay Area.
