Dalian Dayao Bay Bonded Port Area was formally established in August 2006 after receiving approval from the State Council on August 2006, with a planned area of 6.88 square kilometers. It is the second of its kind in China and the first one in northeast China.

It has four basic functions, covering ports, logistics, processing, and exhibition. It  uses its regional and policy advantages to develop port operations, international transit, international distribution, international procurement, transit trade, export processing, and commodity display.
