Located in the northeast of Liaodong Peninsula and facing the Huanghai River, Golden Pebble Beach National Tourism Report, also known as Jinshitan Scenic Area, is about 50 kilometers away from the downtown of Dalian. It comprises two peninsulas with a spacious beach in between, which splits the site into a land area of 62 square km and a water surface area of 58 sq km. Encircled by sea all around, the beach boasts a coastline of 30 km.

The region has an oceanic monsoon climate, with mild temperatures and four distinct seasons. The environment is among the best in the country. Its fresh air, clean sea water and spacious beaches attract tourists.

In 1988, it was identified as a national scenic spot. In October 1992, it became a national tourism resort approved by the State Council. In 2000, it was rated as one of the first national AAAA tourist attractions. On September 19, 2005, it was named as one of China's national geoparks. In 2010, it was rated as a national AAAAA tourist attraction.

The main attractions at Golden Pebble Beach National Tourism Resort include the gold coast, kung fu museum, coastal geology park, Jinshiyuan Park, Jinshi Wax Museum, and Kingdom of Discovery.
