More flights to more cities during Spring Festival rush

China Southern Airlines Zhuhai has scheduled 688 additional flights during the Jan 21-March 1 Spring Festival travel rush, bringing its total number of flights to 2,823, up 15 and 17 percent year-on-year respectively.

Passenger volume is forecast to grow significantly as throngs, especially of migrant workers and college students, travel to reunite with family during the Chinese Lunar New Year.

In addition to operating the current 13 airplanes, China Southern will apply for a Boeing 737 to be transferred to Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport to help handle the load during the 40-day period.

In the meantime, new air routes will open from Zhuhai to Ningbo of Zhejiang Province, Nanyang of Henan, and Taiyuan of Shanxi.

Flights to Xi'an of Shaanxi, Kunming of Yunnan, Nanchang of Jiangxi, Changde and Changsha of Hunan, Shanghai, Shenyang of Liaoning, Chongqing, Wuhan of Hubei, Hangzhou of Zhejiang, Guiyang of Guizhou, Haikou of Hainan, and Zhengzhou of Henan will also be increased in number.
