WDC intl ballroom dance championships to open in Hohhot

The WDC China International Ballroom Dance Championships is set to open in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, July 28, according to an announcement made at a news conference on July 3.

The competition was initiated by the World Dance Council (WDC) and its amateur league (WDC-AL) and has attracted dancers from Russia, Mongolia, Ukraine and China.

Yuan Bing, vice-president of WDC, explained that the competition will be divided into 11 groups , covering 12 kinds of dance including waltz, tango and foxtrot.

Inner Mongolia leads the nation in promoting international ballroom dancing and has organized dozens of regional and national competitions.

International ballroom dancing has gained popularity in the region over the past 20 years, attracting hundreds of amateurs to pursue professional dance careers.
