Fangta Garden in Songjiang district features historic relics. Covering a total area of 182 mu (12 hectares), the garden used to be the downtown area in Tang and Song dynasties. Highlights of the garden include the Square Pagoda and the Screen Wall, also called zhaobi in Chinese, an isolated wall just inside the gate of a traditional Chinese house to shield the rooms from outsiders' view.

The Square Pogoda, with a height of 42.5 meters, is made of bricks and wood. It is one of the most well-preserved ancient pagodas in China and a symbol of Songjiang Ancient City.

The Screen Wall, 4.75 meters high and 6.1 meters wide, is the oldest, most delicate, and most well-preserved brick sculpture art work in the country, showing the exquisite carving techniques of ancient people.
