Chinese Language Programs at Hunan Normal University

The International College of Chinese Language and Culture is a special college for Chinese Language study. The center offers Chinese Language training programs, including bachelor and master's programs for Chinese language. The institute is also home to the Chinese Culture Education Base, the HSK (the Chinese Proficiency Test), the TCFL Capability test, and the ZHC (the Professional Chinese Proficiency Test) testing site for Hunan province. There are more than 30 experienced teachers at the center, qualified in Chinese, international Chinese teaching and Chinese Studies. Along with intensive lectures and practices, the college helps students make friends with Chinese counterparts who are fluent in Mandarin. Students also have access to tours of Chinese culture and society, as well as language activities and events with students from all over the world. The institute exposes students to the world of Chinese culture and helps them improve their Chinese language abilities through practice.

Courses

The institute provides Comprehensive Chinese, Oral Chinese, Chinese Listening, Chinese Writing, Chinese Characters, Chinese Reading and HSK training courses for all students no matter their level of proficiency. In addition to Chinese language courses, it also provides Chinese culture courses as classes of interest, such as Chinese Traditional opera, paper cutting, Chinese Painting, Calligraphy and Taijiquan, or Taichi.

Class arrangement

At the beginning of the semester, the college will give all students a placement test, and arrange students according to their Chinese proficiency. Generally, it offers A, B, C, D, E, F and G classes. Each class admits about 20 students.

Teaching Situation

Hunan Normal University has an array of professionals that will be teaching students of the Chinese language courses. The center also has a special Chinese Listening Class with modern equipment to help with more integrated learning. Furthermore, each classroom is compact and efficient, allowing students and teachers to better communicate with each other.
