Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC)

This scholarship is only available to international students aiming to complete a masters or Ph.D. degree program.

● Details of the Scholarship

1. Exemption from tuition and on-campus accommodation costs;

2. Monthly allowance is offered as follows:

  * Master’s Students:  3,000 CNY ($475) /month

  * Doctoral Students:  3,500 CNY/month

Scholarship students shall receive their monthly living allowance after registration. New students who register on or before the 15th of the registration month will receive the full living allowance for that month; those registering after the 15th will receive half that amount. Graduating students will receive a living allowance extending 15 days after the graduation date set by the university. The allowance will be terminated the month following students’ suspension of their studies, departure from school or completion of schooling at the university. The monthly living allowance also covers school holidays. Scholarship students who miss the monthly living allowance during holiday periods may be reimbursed on their return to campus. The allowance will be suspended for a minimum of one month for students who fail to register on time without exemption from the university, who leave for reasons unrelated to health, or who are absent from university for more than one month.

Students suspending their studies due to pregnancy or health reasons are required to return to their home countries for care and treatment. Students will cover international travel expenses. With the university’s approval, scholarship status can be reserved for up to one year with living allowances suspended during leave. The scholarship status will not be reserved for those who suspend their studies for unapproved reasons.

3. Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Program for International Students in China will be provided to scholarship students by MOE in cases of hospitalization for serious disease or injury.

4. Applicants are expected to cover their own international travel expenses.

● Qualifications

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.

2. Applicants must be currently studying in a foreign country.

3. Education background and age limit:

- Applicants for master’s programs must hold a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 35.

- Applicants for doctoral programs must hold a master's degree and be under the age of 40.

● Application Procedures and Time

Applicants must submit all application forms and materials to the School of International Education, DUT, from December to the end of February each year.

Applicants must complete and provide the following materials truly and correctly (in duplicate):

  1. Applicants for Chinese Government Scholarship should compete the online application, printing and signing the application after submitting it online. The CSC Online Application System for Study in China is available at http://laihua.csc.edu.cn

Applicants to doctoral programs can submit Liaoning Government Scholarship applications at the same time.

NOTE: IF YOUR INFORMATION CANNOT BE FOUND IN OUR SYSTEM, YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE CANCELED.

2. Highest diploma (notarized copy). If applicants are university students or already employed, they should also provide certificates and documents of study or employment. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must have notarized translations in Chinese or English attached.

3. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must have notarized translations in Chinese or English attached.

4. A study or research plan (no less than 800 words) in Chinese or English. Please elaborate on the major or research field you wish to study at DUT.

5. Two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by professors or associate professors at the university from which applicants graduated.

6. Copy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form, provided by the Chinese quarantine authority to those studying in China for up to six months, completed in English. (Applicants should retain original document.) Medical examinations must cover all items listed on the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Any incomplete record or  record submitted without the attending physician’s signature, the official stamp of the hospital, and a sealed photograph of the applicant will be considered invalid. Medical examination results are valid for six months. All applicants are kindly requested to take this into consideration when scheduling their medical examination.

7. Photocopy of passport.

8. If the applicants have HSK Certificates, please submit photocopies.

9. Six photo portraits (3cm x 4cm).
