Wuxi to build four general airports

Yixing General Airport is striving to start its construction before 2018 Spring Festival and put into use in 2020, reported Wuxi Daily on Nov 29.

According to the Jiangsu provincial planning of general airports, which requires 1.25 general airports per 10,000 square kilometers, four general airports have been decided to be built in Wuxi during the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020).

Apart from general flying missions such as personal flights and passenger and cargo transportation, general airports serve for special flying missions, including business travel, air travel, air performance, aerial photography, air mapping and agricultural care.

Huaxi General Airport has been put into use in Jiangyin city and the coming four airports will be built in Jiangyin city, Yixing city, Mashan and Xishan district of Wuxi.

Yixing General Airport will be built for the development characteristic of general aviation industry. The other four general airports will focus on production operation of agriculture, forestry, fishery and other industries, travel flight and private pilot license training.

General airports will also be beneficial for emergency rescue. More air support projects can be carried out efficiently, including air monitoring, air command, emergency rescue, medical care, traffic management and fire extinguishing.
