Fishery industry

This year is the first year of conducting new national regulations on summer moratorium of marine fishing. Zhejiang province has focused on optimizing and promotion of the fishery industry's structure and green sustainable development.

The total output of aquatic products for the first half of 2017 was 2.082 million ton, a year-on-year decrease of 0.1 percent while the added value of the fishery industry was 19.3 billion yuan ($2.92 billion), with a growth rate of 1.2 percent.

In the first half of 2017, the yield of fishing in freshwater was 37,000 ton, a year-on-year growth of 19.4 percent; while the yield of fishing in ocean was 867,000 ton, a decrease of 16.4 percent. The structure of fishing industry is optimizing.

Due to the advanced moratorium of marine fishing and the requirement of developing new technology about facility cultivation, the yield of aquiculture in the first half of the year increased significantly, with the yield of freshwater aquiculture of 409,000 tons and the yield of mariculture 448,000 tons, increased by 9.7 percent and 22.4 percent year-on-year respectively. 

In the first half of the year, the yield of pelagic fishery was 321,000 tons, a year-on-year growth of 15.4 percent, and the growth rate was 5.8 percent higher than the first quarter, keeping a relatively fast growth.
