Wenzhou

Apparel

The garment industry has long been one of the most significant traditional industries in Wenzhou. The past 40 years have seen the rise of the industry and the city. China Garment Association granted Wenzhou the brand of China Fashion Customization Demonstration Base in 2017. 

More than 30 percent of local apparel companies have now entered the field of fashion customization, covering men's wear, women's wear, children's wear, and accessories. Many of the country's high-end information equipment manufacturers have settled in Wenzhou. High-end fabric manufacturers in the city have also been keeping up with the latest market trends.

From January to July 2017, the main business income of enterprises above designated size in the textile and garment industry in Wenzhou was 14.49 billion yuan, and the total profit reached 1.20 billion yuan, up 11.1 percent year-on-year. In recent years, Wenzhou garment enterprises have continuously embarked on a new path of transformation and upgrading in terms of personalization, branding and market expansion.

Shoes 

Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, along with Dongguan, Guangdong province, Jinjiang, Fujian province and Chengdu, Sichuan province, is known as one of the four major Chinese shoe centers. As an early starter in the footwear industry, Wenzhou has seven Chinese famous brands, 82 Chinese well-known trademarks, and 196 Chinese authentic leather certificated enterprises blossoming in the city, accounting for half of the nation’s renowned shoe brands.

Wenzhou shoe industry has actively engaged in various major national industrial events, such as the first China International Import Expo and the fifth World Internet Conference.

In 2017, the shoe industry in Wenzhou realized a total industrial output value of 100.2 billion yuan and became one of the pillar industries of Zhejiang province. From January to September 2018, about 505 million pairs of shoes were exported, up 7.35 percent year-on-year, with a total export value of 21.82 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 62 percent.

Electricity industry

The electricity industry has developed into a major industry in Wenzhou, and one of the key industrial clusters in Zhejiang province. As the home of the country's largest low-voltage electrical industry base, it has become one of the leaders in the industry, with business scale accounting for 60 percent of national market share. Wenzhou also took part in the formulation of 226 national standards for the industry.

According to Wenzhou Electricity Industry Association, the total output value of Wenzhou electricity industry in 2017 was nearly 140 billion yuan, of which the output value of enterprises above designated size was 101 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 8.7 percent. By 2018, there were more than 11,900 electrical enterprises in Wenzhou, including more than 630 enterprises above designated size, four Chinese top 500 companies and seven listed companies.
