Zhejiang's economic transformation and upgrading lists information, environmental protection, health, tourism, fashion, finance, culture and high-end equipment manufacturing as its focuses of development in 2017, in which information economy was listed at the top.

The scale of Zhejiang's information economy core industry was worth nearly 1 trillion yuan ($150.86 billion) in 2015. Most of Zhejiang's information economy enterprises cover internet of things, cloud computing, big data, e-commerce, smart logistics, internet finance, information safety, artificial intelligence and other fields. These leading enterprises, as well as Alibaba Group, are titled as new substantial economy. 

The total tax payment of Alibaba Group last year was 23.8 billion yuan and drove tax payments of at least 200 billion yuan from its platform, creating more than 30 million job opportunities. 

The GDP of East China's Zhejiang province grew by 8.1 percent to 3.69 trillion yuan in the first three quarters of this year. The growth rate of tertiary industries was 2 percent higher than that of GDP, accounting for 55.2 percent of the province's GDP. Among them, the growth rate of for-profit service industry represented with information economy reached 20.8 percent.

The mode of Internet Plus has been a driving force for traditional industries. The new generation of information technology integrating with traditional industries to promote the transformation and upgrading of industries. The printing and dyeing enterprises in Keqiao district, Shaoxing city, keep improving the added value of its products with information technology. This year, the revenue of the printing and dyeing industry rose 13 percent year-on-year with year-on-year output nearly unchanged.
