Fujian province launched a cultural and tourism promotion event in Harbin on Jan 7, aiming to attract residents of China's cold northeastern regions to the warmer south for the upcoming Chinese New Year.

As the guest province of the 42nd China Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival, Fujian unveiled a series of travel incentives and cultural showcases. The highlight was a Fujian tulou-inspired ice sculpture, an iconic type of earthen building found in Fujian, which stood alongside a photo exhibition of Fujian's coastal landscapes.

The initiative focuses on the winter getaway. Fuzhou's hot spring resorts were heavily promoted with all-inclusive packages that bundle dining and accommodation offered to attract travelers seeking a reprieve from the sub-zero temperatures of the North.

In a blend of regional traditions, the event featured a puppet show that integrated Fujian's puppet art with performance elements of Northeast China, as well as displays incorporating robots and robotic dogs, adding a modern flair to the program.

The promotional event concluded with a round of strategic signings. Major tourism entities, including operators from Fujian tulou attractions, Xiamen Gulangyu-Wanshi Scenic Area, and Harbin Ice and Snow World, inked agreements to strengthen interprovincial travel routes and marketing cooperation.
