Holidays spark record tourism growth in Jilin

Northeast China's Jilin province witnessed a tourism surge during the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays, powered by the opening of the Shenyang–Baihe section of the Shenyang–Jiamusi High-Speed Railway and the full completion of the G331 tourism corridor.

The province welcomed 34.73 million domestic tourists, generating total travel spending of 25.29 billion yuan ($3.54 billion).

According to travel agency Ctrip, Jilin's travel bookings increased by 20 percent year-on-year, with Beijing, Harbin, Shenyang, Shanghai, and Dalian among the top sources for incoming tourists. Traffic along the G331 section exceeded 307,000 vehicles, a 410.82 percent increase.

Changchun's Xinmin Avenue turned into a lively pedestrian hub, drawing 1.43 million visitors, Tonghua promoted red tourism routes, and Ji'an's Gaogouli Cultural Relics Scenic Area recorded a 34.9 percent rise in visitors.

Museums across the province extended their opening hours, hosting 72 exhibitions and 120 activities, with the Palace Museum of the Manchurian Regime attracting 155,400 visitors, up 3.8 percent.

Across 5A-level and 4A-level scenic spots, tourist arrivals rose 11.3 percent and revenue grew 12.9 percent. Rural tourism also thrived, with 16 percent and 14 percent increases in visits and spending, while high-rated homestays saw visitor numbers climb 38 percent. At Changbai Mountain, visitor numbers reached a record 221,700, thanks to a new booking system that expanded ticket availability to meet growing demand.
