The coastal Qinhuangdao city in Hebei province recently hosted a sea fishing tournament in its Haigang district, an event designed to showcase its marine resources and drive regional economic growth.
The Haidongqing Cup 2025 China Qinhuangdao Sea Fishing Competition, also serving as the National Sea Fishing Tournament (Qinhuangdao Haigang Station), began on Saturday.
The two-day competition featured 100 participants from home and abroad. It aimed to leverage Qinhuangdao's unique marine resources to boost the integrated development of culture, sports, and tourism, local authorities said.
By focusing on its "two-pole" economy, which emphasizes sailing and sea fishing, Qinhuangdao also aims to stimulate growth in coastal tourism, recreational fishing, and the broader related industrial chain.
The China Angling Association and the Qinhuangdao city government jointly hosted the tournament.
