The Marshal Nie Rongzhen Exhibition Hall is a museum dedicated to commemorating Marshal Nie Rongzhen (1899-1992), a pivotal military leader in Chinese history and one of the founders of the People’s Liberation Army. He played a key role in the struggle for national independence and liberation, participating in the Nanchang Uprising in 1927, the Long March (1934-36), the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45), and the War of Liberation (1946-49). After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, he focused on national defense technology, contributing to the “Two Bombs, One Satellite” program and the development of long-range rockets and nuclear submarines.
Through sculptures, oil paintings, and multimedia technologies, the main exhibition of the museum chronicles Marshal Nie Rongzhen’s remarkable life and showcases his legacy in five sections: Devotion to the Country, A Founder of the Republic of China, Commander of Science and Technology, A New Long March, and A Great Role Model.
The museum boasts a rich collection, including 46 volumes of Nie Rongzhen’s archives, more than 12,000 books, nearly 600 pieces of calligraphy and paintings by China’s leaders and notable artists, as well as audio-visual materials, photographs, historical documents, and national defense technology exhibits. Among them, a Hongqi limousine is notable. This car was assigned to Marshal Nie in 1966 and was used for many official events and international engagements. It witnessed his selfless dedication to the Party and the people.
When you depart after visiting the main hall of the museum, you may encounter a bronze statue of Marshal Nie at the center of a square, reminding you of his great contribution, lofty thoughts, and noble virtues.
