Strawberries and hot springs: Springtime celebration in Changchun

On March 14, the Shuangyang district of Changchun city, Northeast China's Jilin province, inaugurated the 11th Shuangyang Sheling Hot Springs and Strawberry Tourism Season. The event, hosted by Shuangyang district government, promotes the integrated development of agriculture, culture, and tourism, offering visitors a unique spring experience.

The opening ceremony, which drew numerous tourists and media representatives, took place at Sheling Little Red Riding Hood Strawberry Picking Garden. The garden features various attractions, including a strawberry lecture hall, an intangible cultural heritage market, interactive game zones, and popular food stalls.

Over the past decade, Sheling strawberries have evolved into a well-known local brand, becoming the province's largest and most renowned strawberry planting and picking base. The industrial chain has achieved scale, standardization, and modernization, encompassing nearly 20 varieties and establishing 13 centralized parks and 53 planting gardens. The industrial chain's sales have surpassed 200 million yuan ($27.6 million), providing more than 5,000 farmers with scattered employment opportunities.

The current tourism season will continue until May 30, offering a range of discounts for visitors to enjoy the joy of strawberry picking, the comfort of the hot springs, and the unique charm of the Shuangyang district.
