Shanxi promotes agricultural product processing industry

North China's Shanxi province has formulated the "Shanxi Province Implementation Plan for Promoting High-Quality Development of Agricultural Product Processing Industry" to improve agricultural quality and efficiency and increase farmers' employment and income.

Shanxi will support major agricultural counties with strong specialties in building agricultural product processing parks, high industry concentration, and strong influence to form industrial clusters based on the regional layout of products.

Shanxi aims to cultivate leading national and provincial enterprises in agricultural industrialization and achieve a total operating income of over 300 billion yuan ($41.51 billion) for the province's agricultural product processing industry by 2026.

The province will accelerate the establishment of a technical research and development system for agricultural product processing, promote technological and product innovation, and improve the standard system, forming new quality productive forces in agriculture.

It will strengthen and extend grain, livestock, fruits and vegetables, and Chinese medicinal material industrial chains, building advantageous specialty industries clusters focusing on intensive processing.

The province will continue to advance the integration of agriculture, forestry, culture, tourism, and health industries, creating leisure villages that drive agricultural product processing and promoting leisure agriculture boutique routes that offer agricultural experiences.
