NPC deputy Xu Yanru advocates for grassroots voices

Xu Yanru, a dedicated deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC) and an employee at Jilin Four Seasons Harvest Textile Co, has been busier than ever in preparation for this year's two sessions. Between her shifts in the factory, she has meticulously refined suggestions for presenting at the national event.

Beyond her day job, Xu is deeply engaged in public services. Over the past year, she has been addressing community concerns. When residents reported an unmanaged garbage issue affecting their neighborhood, Xu immediately escalated the matter to the relevant authorities, which led to a resolution in just one day.

During last summer's devastating floods, she worked closely with farmers, investigating their concerns over inadequate agricultural insurance payouts and preparing research-based suggestions to advocate for policy improvements.

Elected as an NPC deputy in 2018 and re-elected in 2023, Xu has submitted numerous proposals on labor protection, vocational training, online safety, and food security. In 2023, her motions included amendments to the Charity Law and measures to enhance household services. This year, she is pushing for stronger patriotic education initiatives for youth.

After each two sessions, Xu promptly returns to her workplace to share policy updates with her colleagues. To them, she is more than a factory worker – she is a national model worker and a vital link between the people and the government.

Looking ahead to this year's two sessions, Xu hopes for more policies that support private enterprises and the textile industry, as well as broader initiatives to improve people's livelihoods. "Representing the voice of grassroots workers is both an honor and a responsibility," she said.
