Changchun Railway Station in Northeast China's Jilin province served 3.62 million passengers during the 40-day 2025 Spring Festival travel rush, averaging 91,000 travelers daily, a 5-percent increase from the previous year. To meet demand, 547 passenger trains operated every day. On Jan 25, the peak day, over 113,000 passengers were served.
The migrant workforce, family reunions, and tourism flows still dominated this year's Spring Festival travel. To enhance transportation capacity, The railway station added 423 temporary trains.
Emergency coordination during snowy weather and collaboration with other transport services, including bus stations, subways, highways, and civil aviation, significantly enhanced the passenger travel experience. One initiative was establishing an air-rail intermodal service center, complete with an electronic display showing real-time flight schedules, which provided added convenience for travelers.
The station was decorated with lanterns and Chinese knots to celebrate the festive season. On Chinese New Year's Eve, large TVs were set up in the waiting hall so passengers could watch the Spring Festival Gala, and staff distributed free apples as a gesture of good wishes for passengers journeying home.
A dedicated service team from the station assisted 3,120 key passengers, providing care for the elderly, children, sick, disabled, and other special groups.
