CRRC rolls out 1st train for Chongqing Metro Line 15

The first train of Chongqing's Metro Line 15, designed by CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co, was launched on Feb 21. This six-carriage urban rail express train, with a maximum capacity of 2,428 passengers, makes it China's highest-capacity city rail vehicle in service.

The company is based in Changchun, capital of Northeast China's Jilin province.

The train has been customized to meet Chongqing's unique geography and operational needs. It is compatible with the Bishan-Tongliang Line of Chongqing suburban railway and Metro Line 27, offering cross-line operation, seamless connectivity, and reducing spare part inventory and maintenance costs.

The train's blue exterior represents technology and the future, while the gold ribbon, symbolizing elegance, reflects Chongqing's leadership in the tech race.

Tailored for mountainous terrain, the train boasts superior hill-climbing ability and can easily conquer complex landscapes. Its flexible design allows it to be configured into four or six carriage sets based on passenger demand.

The intelligent environmental system, air purification devices, and soundproof doors offer passengers a comfortable journey. The train also features mixed seating, wireless charging, and multimedia equipment to meet diverse travel needs.

The train's lithium-titanate batteries reduce energy consumption, support zero-emission operations, provide quick charging, and boast a long lifespan.
