Zhenlai county's bureau of agriculture and rural affairs hosted a rice planting technology training session on Jan 10 in collaboration with the Jilin Academy of Agricultural Sciences' Northeast Agricultural Research Center. Over 30 county rice growers and bureau officials attended.
Ma Wei, an associate researcher from the research center, led the session and provided valuable insights into rice variety selection, seedling nursery technology, and the large-scale application of rice-growing substrates.
The training also covered techniques for drought-resistant rice seedlings, maintaining stable yields, and comprehensive pest prevention. Participants also toured the experimental rice seedling substrate greenhouse, storage warehouses, and production workshops.
According to Liang Baoshan, head of the bureau, Zhenlai county is the largest rice-producing county in Jilin province. Promoting and applying biomass rice seedling substrates and new rice varieties and technologies are expected to enhance the local rice industrial chain.
