Located at 563 JinzhouBeilu, Changzhou Island, Huangpu district, Guangzhou, the 1911 Revolution Museum was established in October 2011 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1911 Revolution.
Covering 58,000 square meters and a total investment of 319 million yuan ($43.5 million), the museum showcases the profound impact of the 1911 Revolution on modern Chinese society. Since December 2020, the museum has also been managing the operations of the Memorial of the Original Site of Huangpu Military Academy under the commission of the Huangpu district people's government.
The museum's permanent exhibitions include Opening a New Era of the Republic: The 1911 Revolution and Famous Figures of Guangdong During the 1911 Revolution. Additionally, the museum irregularly hosts temporary exhibitions each year, such as The Art of Chinese Chopsticks and Health Governance in Modern Guangzhou, both of which won the Guangdong Province Museum Exhibition Excellence Award.
The museum's collection encompasses over a dozen categories, including paper documents, manuscripts, badges, postal items, textiles, ceramics, metal artifacts, and weapons. The collection primarily focuses on domestic items while also including pieces from overseas, forming a collection system rich in historical value and distinct.
The museum provides a variety of educational activities, including the "Xinhai Academy", which utilizes its collection to create tailored educational programs for different audiences. Additionally, improvements have been made to guided tours, volunteer services, traveling exhibitions, lectures, and the "Friends of the Museum" initiative. The museum has also established strategic partnerships with institutions such as Guangzhou University and Guangdong Youth Political College.
